Ireland has lowest rate of health care and yeast infections in British.
Irish hospitals have recorded a level of almost five per cent for health care associated infections in the latest survey.
This means Ireland has the lowest rate of these infections in a survey of hospitals in the Republic, Northern Ireland, England and Wales.
Over seven and a half thousand patients were surveyed in 44 acute Irish hospitals with the overall figure of MRSA yeast infection emerging as under 0.5% - lower than their UK level of 1.5%.
The results are from the Third Prevalence Survey of Healthcare-Associated Infections in Acute Hospitals, carried out by the UK and Ireland based Hospital Infection Society between February and May 2006.
